This website is a little project showcasing some of my my early attmpts of coding in HTML, CSS and javascript while at the same time showcases my IT skills to potential employers. It's essentially a playground on my journey from an already experienced Network Engineer with more than 15 years experience at a global Fincancial Company into the brave new world of programmability, "software definedness" and Infrastructure as Code that are approaching the networking space at rapid speed.

It contains multiple sections of my little projects and courses I have taken in an attempt of breaking into this space. The overall page design for example is entirly coded by hand in html, css and a tiny bit of javascript based on a free online tutorial by Dani Krossing. This course (as well as some introductory html courses in college many moons ago) has given me a solid foundation and enabled me to build the framework for this overall project.

As with any technology it is the same here: "If you don't use it, you'll lose it", so this site is meant to be a living "organism" to which I contiously add content and improvements while I am progressing through my adventure of coding.

As mentioned above, my original passion in technlogy is the Network and I absolutley still see myself first and foremost as a senior network engineer and architect, but we all know that being able to configure OSPF on a CLI alone is not what the market is looking for now or in the next 20 years. So this site should act as much as a portfolio or a very extensive CV of my Networking skills as well as my progress in the DevOPs space to demonstrate my value to potential new (or current) employers.
It is a chance to show you what couldn't fit on my two page CV and give you confidence in the fact that I would add great value to your team.

A very quick overview of what you'll see

As mentioned before this framework site has been built based on a tutorial but the content and formating of it is evolving by what I've learned already and complemented by online research, that has lead me into many rabit holes where I learned about entirely different things than I originally set out for. I have also employed the help of our good friend Github Copilot to help me with some of the more complex CSS and HTML code.

The choice of hosting this content on an Azure Static Web App Resource and managing the code through a GitHub Repo is also intentional as it lines up with services and tools I am using in my day to day job.

As of October 2024 this page is still at the very beginning of its life. I have many ideas that will make the site more interactive which I want to incorporate in the future but for now these are work in progress. These future hands on projects will help me dive deeper into topics that I already have foundational understanding of, such as:

You may have noticed that the design of this website is being kept very simple. While I have experimented with CSS and dynamic webdesign, I have realized that the artistic aspect is not my forte and that my time is better spent on technical aspect of the website.
If you are interested however, you can check out my original attempt here.

But enough of the introduction for now. Please browse around on the site and explore the different sections. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions.
